Date: 8 February 2012 Author: Julie Crossley
Ashton KCJ’s Julie Crossley has obtained £19,500 compensation for the widow of a previously fit man in his early 80s who died after his local hospital failed to identify internal bleeding and infection in his abdominal region.
Mr A was admitted for a biopsy on his gall bladder, having had symptoms of abdominal pain earlier in the month and an ultrasound which showed a gall bladder mass. His post-biopsy care fell well below the standard he was entitled to expect and experts indicated that his life could still have been saved and the damage reversed if appropriate diagnosis and treatment had been made as little as nine hours before his death.
